The Sullivan County School District is exploring the possibility of establishing an independent 501(c)(3) educational foundation that could provide additional opportunities and resources for students, staff, and schools in our community.

An educational foundation is a separate nonprofit organization designed to generate community support for educational initiatives. If established as a 501(c)(3), the foundation could accept tax-deductible contributions from individuals, businesses, alumni, and community organizations and direct those resources toward initiatives that enhance educational opportunities beyond the district’s regular operating budget.

For Sullivan County, a foundation could potentially support classroom projects, innovative learning experiences, student activities, scholarships, educational opportunities, and other initiatives that benefit our students and schools.

While the foundation would be an independent organization and not part of the day-to-day operations of the Sullivan County School District, I am willing to help guide the initial planning process and provide information and support as the community explores whether this is something we would like to establish.

At this stage, we are looking for parents, alumni, community members, local businesses, and other interested individuals who would like to potentially be involved in forming and shaping the foundation.
