Course Descriptions

7th & 8th Grade Rotation Art
Students rotate through a variety of projects that introduce and reinforce the Elements & Principles of Art. They learn foundational media, techniques, and processes, and begin exploring art history. 8th Grade Art is designed to build upon the foundational skills and knowledge of 7th Grade Art and prepare students for more challenging and complex artistic explorations of Elective Art.

Elective Art 1–4 (Grades 9-12)
These sequential electives allow students to deepen their skills and creative vision. Through diverse projects, students experiment with multiple media, techniques, and processes. Each level includes components of Art Appreciation, Art History, Art Criticism, and art‑focused writing. Concepts and content in these courses are additionally designed to bridge the gap between design thinking and the creative process with practical skills and critical thinking that can be applied beyond art-specific activities.

Art Apprenticeship (Grade 12)
Designed for students interested in art or design careers, this course emphasizes post‑secondary readiness. Apprentices develop professional portfolios, practice industry‑specific skills, and learn the responsibilities common to professionals in creative fields.
