Welcome to Dr. Vogt's Webpage!
This is my 11th year teaching science at Sullivan County. I teach students in grades 10-12 Conceptual Physics, Chemistry in the Community, Chemistry I, Chemistry II, AP Chemistry, and Physics.
When I'm not working on these courses, I am usually working with the Science Club or the Technology Teachers applying concepts in real life through cross-curricular projects. I recently competed a doctorate in education with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction. As I continue to explore and research education, I'm particularly interested in how virtual computer simulations of labs, make the actual labs easier to understand.
In 2021 I was honored to be nominated for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). You can learn more about the award here. I was recognized as a state finalist, meaning I was recognized as one of the top 3 science/engineering educators in the state who were nominated and I am currently in the running for national recognition. I am very grateful to be teaching in a district where we are encouraged to develop practical and meaningful, student-centered lessons!
My hobbies include MAKE-ing/tinkering, gardening, playing guitar, and a fascination with flying & small airplanes.
I'm excited to explore, learn, and create with you this year!
